Welcome to Mahjong is Greek to Me! Our journey began back in the fall of 1989, when I pledged Chi Omega at the University of Alabama. Our bid day, on that fateful fall day in Tuscaloosa, was the start of our lifelong friendships. There are ten ladies in our group who have gathered at least once a year for the past 37 years. We have celebrated with toasts and singing and held space for each other when life has disappointed us. These women have brought me a great deal of joy and support through the years.

Fast forward to 2013, I’m living in Louisville, Kentucky with my husband and 3 children. God placed another group of amazing women in my life known as the Happy Hikers. They too have celebrated and encouraged me on the road of life. In 2022, one of the hikers from Dallas, taught us how to play mahjong and I was hooked!

I started teaching people how to play the game. In short order I was teaching at a retail store in Louisville. The owner asked me to manage her new business which was Mahjong Studio 1. Spending time in the studio, I was inspired by the creativity and artistry of the mahjong tiles. I had the idea to start a business that married the two things that have brought me so much joy, Chi Omega and mahjong.

We curate unique tiles for each national sorority, bringing together memories of college days and the joy of playing with loved ones. We hope our tiles inspire you to create your own memories and strengthen bonds through the game of mahjong.
